OK, so the pun on Shakespeare is cheesy but it worked because you’re reading this. Gordon Brown’s premiership has sustained another blow after plans to scrap the 10p tax band was announced recently. Since the controversy, Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling has stated that he ‘can’t re-write the budget’.
So, what does this policy actually mean? What is the controversy? The BBC has written a very good article outlining the ‘winners’ and the ‘losers’ and what the proposed changes involve.

well, when a junior minister was asked about the 10p tax cut after plans where introduced a year ago, he did say that the benefits (in the form of tax credits and other ways) for the poor would come from the extra tax money.
it does raise questions on wheather the government has ownership of brain cells or not….
